About the course

This one-day workshop is for the professional trainer, consultant, training manager and line manager. It shares Gray Training’s insight and expertise in the practical application of OBET and how it impacts on the organisation. OBET is the reason behind everything that drives the learning initiative since it marries educational needs with skills growth needs. It is the basis for all education in South Africa and gives you a complete learner-focused perspective on the up-skilling process in South Africa at present. This unit standard has become pre-requisite to a number of other unit standards, certificates and qualifications. By the time you have finished this course you’ll be able to:

Making sense of OBET is run either as a hands-on workshop or as a distance learning module.

Unit Standards

This workshop meets all the outcomes of unit standard 263976 - Demonstrate understanding of the outcomes-based education and training approach within the context of a National Qualifications Framework .

This unit standard provides 5 credits at NQF 5.

Methodology

This learning programme is delivered either as a workshop or as a distance learning module.

The workshop begins by looking at the development of learning technology and methodology up to the start of OBET. From there the module takes us into the South African NQF model and we discover why it has become the world’s benchmark. At that point we discuss the South African structures and the links and associations between education and up-skilling. This brings us into the marriage between the Ministries of Labour and Education.

You’ll master the knowledge in small learning teams and argue the merits of the different methods. As the day progresses you are constantly being evaluated to ensure that you learn constructively, building a platform of confidence to take back to your workplace. By the time you leave, you will be completely conversant with the whole concept of OBET. Post-course projects complete the learning and provide you with your portfolio of evidence (POE).
