About the course
This workshop is designed for those people who assist candidates to prepare and present evidence for assessment.
If you fall into this category, it’s likely that you know very little about the technicalities of assessment – but that you do know a great deal about the workplace. This workshop is designed to address this imbalance, giving you the background you need to help your colleagues and candidates ready themselves for assessment.
The workshop begins with a session aimed at helping you to make sense of the language of assessment. With this foundation in place, you move on to exploring the all-important principles of assessment. You then master the skills of advising on the gathering and organising of evidence, and of supporting learners to prepare themselves and their evidence for assessment.
By the time you leave the workshop you will feel comfortable about the important
role that you will play in the workplace.
Unit Standards
This workshop meets all the
outcomes of unit standard 12544 Facilitate the preparation and presentation
of evidence for assessment ie:
•
Provide information to candidates about assessment
•
Advise and support candidates to prepare, organise and present evidence
•
Check and give feedback on evidence.
This unit standard is set at NQF 4 and earns 4 credits.
Methodology
This workshop - like all Gray Training workshops – is designed to
help you master complex knowledge and skills with ease. There is no such thing
as ‘chalk and talk’ – instead the initial knowledge sessions
are designed around interactive exercises that help you to master the language
of assessment and the knowledge supporting the assessment process through enjoyable
interactive activities.
Once the knowledge foundation is in place, you will have the opportunity to
focus on advising, supporting and guiding learners towards preparing their
evidence for assessment. You’ll learn structured ways of performing these
important skills and will then have the opportunity to practise giving feedback
through all the phases of evidence preparation.
During the last session of the workshop, you will have the opportunity to evaluate your own performance, thus laying the foundation for building the habit of constant self-evaluation and improvement. This is the key to your enjoyment of the role of evidence facilitator – and to your growth in this area.
During the workshop you have the opportunity to start working on your Portfolio
of Evidence. You then have a period of 2 months to complete and submit your
evidence which we assess against the requirements of the standards. And during
all of this learning, you’ll have the benefit of skilled support from
your Gray Training facilitator.
